Using Content Vs Images On Your Blog

It is absolutely certain that content and good content for that matter is absolutely necessary for the success of any blog.

But does that translate into confirming the popular saying that “Content Is King”?

The use of images i would say is almost equally as important as good content on any blog/website

Images liven or brighten up a blog post or the sidebar of a blog which otherwise would have been dull or drab to say the least. Such pages without images will not attract or retain visitors as they soon get bored and click away.

Images convey unwritten information sometimes even more effectively than words would.

Just like text links, images can be clicked to take the reader to another webpage containing a sales pitch or a short splash page where further desired information can be passed to enable the reader make a sound purchasing decision.

By for example enlarging the size of an image, image can be emphasised over words/content such that it attracts the attention of the visitor and ultimately takes him to the webmasters desired destination.

Another way to emphasise images over words is to use specific images which would attract attention. Some images for example contain animations which almost jump at the reader and clearly attract his attention. Others have very bright and inviting colours which also serve a similar purpose.

Any attempt to embolden words/content to serve the same purpose of emphasis on the other hand will be interpreted as “screaming” and offensive and so undesirable.

In summary, i would advise a balance of the two, that is both content and images, to achieve the best possible result.

The 3 Essentials On Starting An Internet Home Business

Monday, February 15th, 2010

I list hereunder in order of necessity/importance, the 3 essentials, on starting an internet home business.

Blog: This seems to be the most necessary as you can quite successfully run your initial internet home business on your blog.

A blog is essential for article marketing and can quite successfully carry out most of the functions a website would ordinarily carry out.

I would anyday recommend the wordpress blog over the blogger blog for various reasons amongst which are its SEO friendlyness, flexibility via varied pluggins etc

A website: This adds more professionalism to your business as it elevates the status of the business in the eyes of prospects and visitors.

These days, the static frontpage website is being jettisoned for the wordpress powered website/home page, though a sizeable number still use the static frontage.

The Autoresponder: This tireless “salesman” is quite important as the home business entrepreneur settles down with his internet home business.

The saying is rife that an average buyer needs to hear of an opportunity for between 5 – 7 times before he is finally swayed to take action in favour of any income opportunity. The autoresponder thus readily lends itself for use for this purpose.

The other option which is not desirable is for the initial visitors of the site to be lost since they may never revisit the site again to take necessary “buying” action without further follow up.

The autoresponder also lends itself for use in the home business entrepreneur’s list building efforts as a lead capture page can be created to funnel subscribers into the autoresponder.

Make Money Quick

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

So many newbies complain of being led into various programs with “make money quick” ads, only to get in to discover it is not as rosy as that.

My comment to the above will be in two parts.

Firstly, I think people ultimately always end up getting what they desire.

Prospects can always confirm that not all websites show such ads.

While still on the lookout for ads to respond to however, prospects actually do come across “honest” sites but click away from such sites very fast since it “leveled” with them that it would involve some work and time.

Even where prospects see “money-making site setup FREE within 24 hours” on the Plug-In Profit Site, because their inner mind wants money within 24 hours, what they actually end up believing to have seen is “money within 24 hours” rather than “a money-making site delivered within 24 hours”.

A lot of webmasters have thus come to realise that the vast majority of entrants into home business are looking for get rich quick schemes or “enjoy” “make money quick” and therefore advertise as such in a bid to just get subscribers at all cost.

I am not holding brief for such webmasters who display “make money quick” fraudulently, but only saying the prospects are equally to blame.

I get to hear for example that the subscribers’ generation rate of some companies is too slow and so a lot of people shy away from using them. Meanwhile, when such people end up getting “fake” leads/subscribers very fast from other sources, they equally complain. You really “cannot have your cake and eat it”.

Some people would rather gather a list into multiple thousands with very low quality/conversions subsequently, rather than take the time to gather quality leads even though they should have known the implication from the outset.

Others, even still using good quality companies to generate subscribers, will place very sensational ads all in a bid to attract subscribers at all cost, only to end up with thousands of low quality subscribers list. They also ought to have known the implication of their actions from the outset.

All these arise from the “make money quick” mentality.

Meanwhile, it should be realised that webmasters have different levels of ethical standards individually and so such “playing to the gallery” by some webmasters should not come as a surprise.

Even where the program is difficult to go through, some webmasters/uplines having a sense of commitment, will do all in their power to assist their subscribers to achieve success while others will not.

In summary, it is incumbent on the prospect to identify the webmaster who is being honest and be prepared to accept the honesty and face reality. Until this happens in large scale, such occurences of “make money quick” will continue.

On the other hand (second part), some people (though few) do actually start making sales and profit quite early with these programs. This does depend on many variables amongst which are

-previous experience in home business/online business
-level of education/general knowledge
-time available to devote to the home business
-funds available to help jumpstart the home business
-availability and quality of mentor or upline.

Having A Good Conversion Rate

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Click here to see what’s inside!

I often read statements like “I get a lot of traffic to my site yet I make no sales or very little sales”.

Some outrightly boast of the size of their mailing list but really have nothing or little to show for it by way of sales. Meanwhile, a lot of resources would have been wasted on getting this massive mailing list, to no effect.

A massive mailing list without sales is effectively a fiasco!

Some key factors that determine how successful a webmaster’s sales efforts will be are at the point of the advert before the customer gets to your site while some are after the advert, when the customer is finally at your site.

Very important determinants to having a good conversion rate are:

• “Effective” can and should be brief. So the first contact with your customers must be very brief as they are unlikely to be interested in any long unwinding sales pitch.

When you now get them to go to your site, and subsequently to return to your site often, the more likely are they going to be willing to spend more time on your site. That is saying , initial adverts(splash pages, e-mails, solo ads etc) and first landing pages on your website should often be brief but effective.

• How targeted is your advertising? I read of some people having a massive list without anything significant to really show for it. Imagine a customer brimming with enthusiasm to go to your site based on your advert only to be disappointed and leave abruptly on getting to your site feeling deceived as there seems not much correlation between the advert that brought him to your website in the first place and the contents he now sees on your website.

Lawyers will ordinarily say there is lack of “consensus ad idem” i.e. meeting of minds.
Alternatively it is a case of the computer terminology “Garbage in, Garbage out”

• Is your website properly set up to effectively convert?
Do you have the necessary text links, banner ads, e-books , newsletter signup forms etc in strategic places, ready and waiting to be clicked upon?

• Is there a “call to action statement” on your website to ginger the prospect to take immediate action?

• Having enough products/services on your website such that if the prospect does not pick on one, he is likely to pick on the other.

• Design and layout of your website is important so that it does not act as a turn off. For example, the contents should be in proper paragraphs and contain some banners/pictures to liven up the website.

• Do you have a follow-up system such as a newsletter in place as most customers need to see or hear about your offer at least five to seven times before pitching their tent with you.

. Is there a proper linking structure in place on your website such that your prospects can adequately navigate your website to access the needed information to make their purchase decisions?

. Update and add to your website content regularly.
It is common knowledge that most visitors do not buy products the first few times they visit your website. They will be watching for continuity and added content while giving them this confidence will also elicit the much needed purchase response.

You will have realized that a large number of the determinants are on the website and so adequate preparation should be made before visitors are invited to your website, so that you do not merely waste resources i.e money and time in getting visitors to your site with no significant positive result achieved.

Pop-Ups, Fly-Ins, Opt-Ins And Pop-Unders

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Pop-unders work by placing your website’s ad under that of another website such that as the visitor is quitting that other website, he sees your ad.

For success to be achieved with this, your website must be in the “general” category and not in a specialised niche as the original adverts under which yours is placed is very untargeted(unlikely to be in your category) and conversions are quite low.

It is however said that the cost of the ad is quite low enough to compensate for the low conversion rate.

Personally, I will advise against this ad type because of the untargetted nature which makes the conversion rate quite low.

Regarding opt-in or fly-in or sometimes pop-ups, this appears on your website about 5 seconds into a customers visit to your site and is supposed to be unblockable by pop-up blockers. It flies onto the website obstructing the visitors view and thereby attracting attention and has to be “closed” for the visitor to continue his surfing of that website.

Some, for example the war room pop-up on the warrior forum are quite powerful that they cannot be closed but must either be left obstructing or clicked to take the visitor to its destination.

It is normal to include some FREE offers e.g E-books to attract the visitor to sign up on the fly-in.

There are also opt-ins built to be displayed on traffic exchanges while an opt-in may also be a “form” containing scanty details such as just e-mail address and name and this form is usually strategically placed on your website to capture subscribers.

What is common to all types of opt-ins by whatever name they may be called, is that they are meant to “capture” subscribers.

In conclusion, a major disadvantage of pop-ups or fly-ins is that if improperly done or overdone, it can annoy the visitor enough to leave the website.

On the otherhand, this is an advantage of the pop-unders in that it does not block the view of the visitor but is a subtle way of getting his attention when he has finished at the site he is visiting. If the ad in this case were targeted, it would be an effective source of advertising.

Overview Of Internet Marketing

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Internet Marketing primarily consists of the following:

Marketing Online of :
a) One’s product or service, developed from scratch.

Developing one’s product/service from scratch is quite demanding both in terms of finance and time and is quite
risky and more or less the preserve of highly capitalised companies.

b) Affilate Marketing results into affiliate earnings and entails marketing of some one else’s already developed
product or service.

Dealing in other people’s products i.e. affiliate marketing is quite affordable and desirable for most individual
internet marketers and is by far the more common option of the two.

One can with very little capital fully operate an online business in this manner and would not have to bother
about many requirements such as stockpiling of inventories,
shipping, website development, product creation or
development etc while one can primarily concentrate on
marketing.

In this area of marketing, one is even considerably assisted
by the principal company through various support mechanisms
e.g. training, provision of website etc and the company shares a
portion of the profit with the individual affiliate marketer.

It is not even uncommon to see the affilate earning of the
affiliate marketer being a greater share of the profit than
that of the principal company.

Either of these two options must now be executed using an
Internet Marketing System to promote the product/service.

One has to be very careful because there are a lot of scams
on the internet.

Promotion of the Product/Service:

Promotion of the product or service can come in many forms.
This includes but not limited to the following internet
marketing strategies:

Marketing via Traffic Exchanges
Classified adverts
Solo e-mail ads
Blog Marketing
Article marketing
Forum marketing
Free for all(FFA) advertising

From experience, it is always best to consolidate all your
business opportunities on one website and consistently apply
the above marketing strategies to the website and thus reap
eventual economies of scale as I am doing on
homebiz
